Sri Lanka Creole Portuguese- Trincomalee
Trincomallee; nearly three hours away from Batticaloa, has very limited connection with the speech community in Batticaloa. However both communities get together few times a years for formal and informal occasions such as weddings, parties etc. The social disconnection is now been reversed up to certain amount by institutional intervention for the social activities of Burghers.
Trincomalee District
Second to the Batticaloa, the other main district where the most number of Creole speakers live, is Trincomalliee. Being the other eastern coastal district of the country, Trincomalliee shows a considerably different settlement patterns when compared to Batticaloa. In Trincomalliee, most of the speakers are limited to the city area, where their engagement with the other parts of the region; in this case a fewer communities, is significantly low.
